Zeolite

Natural Zeolite - Zeolites are microporous, aluminosilicate minerals which are commonly used in industry for water purification, in medicine, agriculture, laundry detergent, cat litter, as catalysts, for the preparation of advanced materials and in nuclear reprocessing. Natural zeolites form where volcanic rocks and ash layers react with alkaline groundwater. Zeolites also crystallize in shallow marine basins in post-depositional environments over periods ranging from thousands to millions of years in shallow marine basins. Zeolites have a porous structure that can accommodate a wide variety of cations, such as Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ and others.  These positive ions are rather loosely held and can readily be exchanged for others in a contact solution.

Clinoptilolite - Clinoptilolite is a natural zeolite comprising a microporous arrangement of silica and alumina tetrahedral with a Mohs hardness of 3.5 to 4 and a specific gravity of 2.1 to 2.2. Use of clinoptilolite focuses on its ion exchange properties having a strong exchange affinity for ammonia (NH4+). A typical example of this is in its use as an enzyme based urea sensor. It is also used as fertilizer, and is sold as a deodorizer in the form of pebble-sized chunks contained in mesh bags. It's use as a human and animal detoxicant is well documented. After the Chernobyl disaster, Clinoptilolite was mixed into the feed supply of dairy cattle to reduce the radiation in the milk produced. Children in the affected areas around Chernobyl were fed chocolate and biscuits that were formulated with Clinoptilolite zeolite and were administered doses of zeolite- based liquids to assist in the removal of radionudides from their bodies. Our patented CA Series products have been proven extremely useful in reducing volatile and extractible petroleum hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, etc.) and other hazardous and toxic compounds (arsenic, lead, barium, mercury, cadmium, chromium, etc.) in soil to within EPA standards.

Phvsical Properties - Our natural Clinoptilolite (Potassium-Calcium-Sodium-Alumina Silicate (K, Ca, Na) 20 Ab03 10Si02 6H20 is one of the purest, with a high Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC - 2.65-2.8 meq/g).
